Thank you, Jay. One can only try to match her mammoth transformative powers in a eulogy. <3

Your words bring your friend to life for me Cinta...and make me sad that I will never know her. I learned something new about you today through your farewell to Julie...and that is just how powerful my mother's influence was for you, for you see I recognize the song you spoke of at the beginning of your tale...Seasons in the Sun, an English interpretation of Jaques Bels French lyrics, by Rod Mckuen. I loved that song as well...as I love you and grieve for your profound loss❤️

That gorgeous, weirdly wonderful song! Do I remember you having a poster or poetry book of Mckuen in your bedroom growing up? Maybe it was you or your mother who is responsible for me finding a small treasure of hand-me-down 45s in the attic on Waterford Road which I listened to on repeat, not at all understanding most of the lyrics at the time, just being moved by the music. <3

Mom and I had all his Poetry Books and one was even called Seasons in the Sun. We also had all his albums, so wouldn't be surprised if you heard her playing it while refinishing her antiques or stripping those Monstrous windows on Waterford❤️❤️ Quick fact that I think you'll love...Jaques Brel and Rid were rumored to have been more than just friends, and when Brel died one of the loving tributes to him from Rod, was a translation if this song...perhaps he and Jaques have rendevoued with Julie in the great hereafter and sung this song. I'd like to believe that. 3 talented, kindred souls reminiscing about a life well lived❤️🙏

I love these words Jacinta, a breathtaking tribute. I did lose a best friend to cancer, it was nearly a decade ago and the experience of grief continues to shape-shift. Sometimes it comes in with a bang out of nowhere. Sometimes it’s quiet for too long. Many things bring reminders, and you never stop wishing you could reach out when something terrible or wonderful happens. Still, they continue to send messages. I created a few traditions to honor her, with friends in common we spend time together talking about how she was, or what she would have said or done at an annual camping trip. I have a special hike I do when I want to be with her. Grief evolves, never leaves. So many hugs to you, the world is certainly less fantastical without Julie. Xo

What a powerful expression of your love and your grief. With the depth of grief being equal to the depth of love it is a huge risk to love someone as you love Julie, and it speaks volumes about both of you that you took that leap. Holding you in my heart during this time of mourning.

I feel that, Steph. Thank you for your witness. It is the risk we take on Earth to love so fiercely, and I choose fierce and loyal love because anything else would not be enough. <3
